The Hull York Medical School is a three-way partnership between the University of Hull, the University of York and the
National Health Service within our region.
The School is governed by two main committees:
- The Joint Board oversees the management of the School. It contains representatives from each of our partners.
- The Joint Senate Committee is responsible for academic governance. The Committee is outside of HYMS and it draws its membership from the academic staff of our University partners.
These main committees are supported by a number of academic and management committees within HYMS.

Ethics Committee: Considers ethical issues relating to the HYMS curriculum, and provides ethical approval for educational research proposals including those involving HYMS students.
