As Undergraduate School Support Assistant, you will work as part of the team which designs, manages and administers all aspects of the HYMS MBBS course. You will support the Phase 1 Co-ordinator, the Academic Phase Lead, Directors of Problem Based Learning (PBL) and Phase 1 Block Leads to assist with the efficient delivery of the Phase 1 core curriculum whilst also contributing to the efficient running of the School as a whole. You will be the primary point of contact for Phase 1 students in York. Working closely with both university and NHS organisations across the HYMS area, you must be willing to work flexibly, both independently and as part of a team.
Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent with good literacy and numeracy skills and with experience in an administrative role, you will require excellent planning, time management and organisational skills. With an ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing, and with excellent interpersonal skills, you must have the capacity to work cooperatively and constructively with people at all levels.
You will be responsible to the Phase 1 Co-ordinator, working closely with other staff involved with Problem Based Learning, teaching, clinical placements, evaluation and student progress.

The post is based in York and is offered on a full time basis. Travel to other locations within the HYMS area may be required, for which travelling expenses will be reimbursed.

As a Clinical Trials Researcher at HYMS, you’ll work on our successful HONEI (Humber, Obesity, Nutrition, Education and Innovation) project. Part of the Centre for Cardiovascular and Metabolic Research, this project conducts translational research into the impact of diet on human health and the development of food and nutraceuticals. Your challenge will be to further develop our research and clinical trials portfolio, with the aim of increasing the health and wellbeing of the UK population, through lifestyle and dietary interventions.

Working with the HONEI Project Manager, you will support the development and clinical evaluation of food and supplement products. You’ll also provide clinical and scientific data to substantiate health or marketing claims. Commercially aware, you’ll engage with food and supplement companies and identify opportunities for the multidisciplinary health research team to develop innovative new food, lifestyle and nutritional interventions whilst promoting research into lifestyle and environmental effects on cardiometabolic conditions.
A highly passionate and motivated postdoctoral fellow, you’ll need research experience in a cardiovascular, metabolic or obesity related subject and a strong interest in metabolic improvement and performance enhancement through lifestyle and nutrition. Knowledge of strategic development within a clinical environment, evidence of successfully securing funding is desirable.
The contract will be with the University of Hull.
