We welcome applicants from a wide range of backgrounds to our research and taught courses. We are especially keen to encourage medical and other health and human science professionals as full-time or part-time students.
How to apply
In general, you should aim to apply early enough to allow time for you to provide evidence that you have met any conditions of you offer and to apply for accommodation and visas if travelling from overseas. Applications can take up to eight weeks to process. We strongly recommend you to apply at least three months before you wish to start your study.
The links above lead to the University of York's online applications system, which is used for HYMS courses based at both Hull and York. Please note that you cannot apply specifically to the University of Hull or the University of York. All our applicants are allocated to one campus or the other, according to our campus allocation policy.
We strongly encourage online applications for all our programmes, since this helps us process your application quickly and efficiently. But if you are unable to apply electronically for some reason, you may email postgraduate@hyms.ac.uk for a paper application form.
What we need from you
We can't consider your application until we have received the following essential documents from you:
- completed application form (ideally through online application)
- personal statement
- research proposal or outline of academic interest
It would also help us in our decision-making process if you submitted the following documents as soon as possible after you apply:
- academic transcripts demonstrating your qualifications
- evidence of your language ability (for non-native speakers)
- references
- your CV (optional)
- samples of your written work (optional)
For international applicants
If you require a visa to enter into the UK as a student, please read the immigration advice pages provided by our parent universities:
The universities will only issue a Confirmation of Acceptance to Studies statement when you have met all admission conditions and hold an unconditional offer.
