Intercalated Master's degrees

We offer intercalated Master's degrees through the Universities of Hull and York. To be eligible for this, you must already be a graduate student -- that is, you must have completed a Bachelor's degree before you started your medical course.

Alternatively, if you intercalated earlier in your medical course and studied at Bachelor's level, you may be able to intercalate again and study at Master's level. This is not automatic, because it depends on the host department recognising your earlier intercalated study as equivalent to a BMedSci, even though technically you won't have a BMedSci until you actually graduate at the end of your full medical course. If the host department does recognise your earlier study, then you will be treated as a graduate student.

Eligibility requirements for Master's degrees are complicated, and term dates may conflict with your main medical degree. For these reasons, if you're interested in an intercalated Master's course, you should contact postgraduate@hyms.ac.uk in the first instance. You can also download the briefing document which should address some of your queries in the first instance.
