Our Postgraduate MSc in Health Professions Education is the next step from the Diploma and can be studied full or part-time. Full-time study

If you would like to study the contents of the Certificate, Diploma and Masters, you have the option to study full-time for one year.

If you are planning to intercalate, this is an ideal option for you, as this full-time MSc has been especially designed for intercalating students.You will gain unique skills, knowledge and insights into education, research and theory, that will greatly enhance not only your performance on your undergraduate programme, but also your career prospects.

Part-time study

Progressing from the Certificate and Diploma, you can also choose to study this Masters programme on a part-time basis. There are a number of other options available to suit your previous experience, work commitments and personal goals. Take a look at the programme pathways section in the programme brochure.

Flexible learning options

You can study at your own pace progressing from Certificate  to Diploma to Masters of Science, should you wish to do so. To help you fit your studies in around busy work schedules and home life, you have the option of studying via distance learning, which is 100% online, or via blended learning, which incorporates face-to-face study days.

You can also choose to commence your studies in either January or September, depending on which date suits you best. 

Applicants must hold a relevant undergraduate degree or its equivalent and have access to an appropriate level of teaching activity (we recommend around 18 hours which should ideally consist of a few separate events) during the year of the programme. 

English Language Requirements

Applicants whose first language is not English will be required to demonstrate evidence of proficiency in English Language as follows: IELTS: 7.0 (in the academic test, with minimum score of 5.5 in all four language competences: Listening, reading, speaking and writing).

50% reduction in tuition fees

This is applicable to contracted or seconded members of HYMS staff with substantive teaching and leadership role in the delivery of HYMS curricula (e.g. PBL tutors, Associate Directors of Clinical Studies, or Directors of Clinical Studies).

The fees for part time study are for the current year only, fees for subsequent years are subject to confirmation.

The Certificate in Health Professions Education is recognised by the Yorkshire and Humber Deanery as an approved route for GPs who are interested in becoming a GP trainer. Funding is available for this programme through the Yorkshire and Humber Deanery, subject to availability.
