Thomas Walther is Professor of Cardiovascular Physiology and Chair in Biomedical Sciences. He became Research Assistant Professor and Head Research Group on Molecular Cardiology at the University Hospital Benjamin Franklin, Berlin, Germany, in 2000. Four years later he also received an Associate Professorship and the Headship in Molecular Pharmacology at the Department of Pharmacology, Erasmus Medical Center, Rotterdam, The Netherlands. In 2007, Thomas became Chair in Biomedical Sciences and Full Professor of Cardiovascular Physiology at the Hull York Medical School, University of Hull, UK. In August 2009, he has been recruited by the University of Giessen, Germany, to establish the Department of Experimental Cardiology and led in commission this department at the Excellence Cluster Cardio-Pulmonary System (ECCPS) until July 2011. In 2009 and 2010, Thomas received also two Guest Professorships, at the University of Leipzig, Germany, and at the University of Ipatinga, Brazil, respectively.
