Sarah Collins, Lecturer in Communication

Sarah Collins is a researcher and lecturer in communication based at
the University of York, and working with the departments of Sociology,
Linguistics, Health Sciences as well as HYMS. She has an MA in Applied Linguistics and a PhD in Communication Studies (Linguistics and Sociology) entitled 'Communication and strategy in health care consultations'.
Sarah has a background in nursing, language teaching, and researching
and lecturing in language and communication across a variety of disciplines
and subject areas. Her research lies in the field of health care communication,
communication disability, and novel integrations of different methods
for researching and teaching communication. She is particularly interested
in interdisciplinary research, inter-professional communication, and applications
of research in education and clinical practice.
Sarah has recently been awarded a Teaching Fellowship to develop an electronic
multimedia learning and teaching resource in communication, with interdisciplinary
applications across medicine, nursing, linguistics, and the social sciences.
