There is no prescribed pre-application experience for applicants to HYMS, but you should try to obtain a realistic understanding of the demands of medical training and practice. You will find it useful to get some experience in a range of caring situations, observing or working alongside healthcare staff, in either a voluntary or paid capacity.
We also advise that you explore both the positive and negative aspects of a medical career through talking to doctors and other healthcare professionals. We will expect you to demonstrate that you understand, and are committed to, teamwork and the social context of healthcare.
