All applicants to HYMS are required to have achieved Grade A in GCSE English Language or equivalent.
English Language GCSE/IGCSE is our preferred qualification. However, we also accept:
- IB score of 6 at the Standard level in English Language (as a first language)
- IELTs overall score of 7.5, with a minimum of 7.0 in every component obtained within the last two years
Resits are allowed, except in the case of IB students, who may sit GCSE/IGCSE English Language as an alternative. If you have not achieved the required standard, we may make an offer based on a pending resit of the same qualification.
Please note we do not accept GCSE/IGCSE 'English as a Second Language'.
If our interviewers express concern about your spoken English we may also ask for:
- IELTs overall score of 7.5, with a minimum of 7.0 in every component obtained within the last two years
