Jonathan graduated from University of Newcastle upon Tyne Medical School in 1991 and trained in psychiatry in North Yorkshire from 1992. He has undertaken substantive posts in psychiatry from 1996. He worked with working age adults in the Airedale and Wharfedale areas, before moving to the Retreat Hospital, York, to work in rehabilitation psychiatry in 2005. Jonathan was awarded Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education by HYMS in 2011.

Jonathan also has the following degrees - MA in Philosophy, Politics and Economics, Oxford University, 1985; MA in Theology and Religious Studies, Leeds University, 2008.


Year 1 and Year 2 Phase 1 Core Curriculum Tutor in Hull; delivers Phase 2 communication skills masterclasses; involved in widening participation programme, examination standard setting and UCAS applications assessment; examiner for Year 1 and Year 2 OSCEs.
