Dane is the Academic Phase 2 Lead for the MB BS Medicine programme. Phase 2 is year 3 and 4 of the programme.
Aside from this role, Dane is also the procedural skills lead for the MB BS programme. He also leads on the Musculoskeletal short course for GPs.
Dane currently has research interests in medical education, sport and exercise medicine and physical activity and lifestyle medicine.
Dr Dane Vishnubala is a Hull York Medical School alumni from its third ever cohort. He is a dual-trained physician, initially completing training in York as a GP before retraining in sport and exercise medicine. He has an MSc in Sport and Exercise Medicine and postgraduate qualifications in Medical Education. Alongside his role at the Hull York Medical School, Dane works as a Consultant in Sport and Exercise Medicine at York Teaching Hospitals and a GP.
He is extremely interested in physical activity and preventative health with 15 years’ experience in the health and fitness industry. He is the lead doctor for Public Health England's Physical Activity Education programme.
He is passionate about medical education and teaches regularly in physical activity, MSK and sports medicine and is currently Vice-Chair of Education at the British Association of Sport and Exercise Medicine.
Outside of medicine, Dane has significant experience in startup companies and was selected as an NHS Clinical Entrepreneur by NHS innovations. He aims to spread his enthusiasm in business and entrepreneurship to our medical students
Dane has broad research interests including medical education, sports medicine, physical activity and lifestyle medicine.
