As Deputy Programme Director, Paul has an overall leadership role for the MB BS programme, working with a team of Phase Leads, Clinical Deans and Academic Leads in other specific areas.
He works alongside a very experienced team of Professional Support Staff and together, the Academic and Support staff aim to deliver a high quality, relevent primary medical degree programme.
Paul is the Deputy Programme Director for the MB BS Medicine progamme with a clinical background in General Practice.
In his practice he was involved in teaching for 22 years, initially with students from the University of Leeds and subsequently as a Clinical Tutor with Hull York Medical School. He worked as a Problem Based Learning facilitator and Clinical Skills Tutor for 10 years, starting with the first cohort of Year 2 students and was also a Year 3 GP Tutor and Educational Supervisor.
More recently, Paul spent several years as Admissions Tutor leading on the selection of students for the MB BS programme. During this time, the school expanded significantly and admitted talented, ambitious cohorts from a wide range of backgrounds.
Paul completed his Masters degree in Clinical Education at Newcastle University with his dissertation on the self-regulation of learning physical examination skills.
