Dr Allgar's main role is to manage the HYMS Statistical Consultancy Service. The service offers comprehensive help and guidance on all statistical matters, including: study design; sample size calculations; help with analysis, interpretation and presentation of data; and the use of statistical packages. The service is free and available to all staff, considering or undertaking research, working in the NHS organisations of North and East Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire.

Member of HYMS Board of Studies. All faculty members contributing the teaching of all HYMS programmes are members of the HYMS Board of Studies.

As the lead for the HYMS Statistical Consultancy Service and providing statistical advice to clinical academics, I sit on and chair Thesis Advisory Panels (TAP) for post-graduate students (MD and PhD) in HYMS. I have am formal named supervisor for students within HYMS and Health Sciences.
