Role at Hull York Medical School

I am the Director of Student Support at Hull York Medical School. This involves supporting students on all Hull York Medical School programmes of study who may be struggling for a variety of reasons. I am based in both Hull and York and also visit the peripheral sites to support both students and staff teams.

Biography

I have worked in psychiatry for 27 years and most latterly in Older Adults Services in the York area. I have also worked at Hull York Medical School as a PBL and Clinical Skills tutor from 2005 until 2018 prior to taking up my current position in July 2018. During my time at Hull York Medical School I have worked within the student support team as a Senior Advisor for several years and then as Deputy Director of Student Support which has given me a good insight into the needs of students.

Teaching

I give a lecture in the Psychological Medicine block in Phase 1 and also facilitate Mental Health Masterclasses in Phase 2.I also provide training on student support to clinical tutors and to PGCME students as required.
