Biography

Jamilla Hussain is a clinical academic. She is a Consultant in Palliative Medicine at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, a Senior Research Fellow at the Bradford Institute for Health Research and honorary Senior Research Fellow at the Wolfson Palliative Care Research Centre at Hull York Medical School.

As a palliative medicine trainee she commenced the Integrated Academic Training programme with the NIHR, successfully securing and completing an NIHR Academic Clinical Fellowship, NIHR Doctoral Research Fellowship and NIHR Clinical Lectureship.

Her research areas have included developing and validating clinical assessment scales, applied health services research in end-stage renal failure and advanced neurological conditions and trial methodology. Her PhD focussed on how best to reduce, handle and report missing data in palliative care clinical trials, during which she spent time at the Australian Palliative Care Clinical Studies Collaborative (PaCCSC) and MRC Biostatistics Unit, University of Cambridge. She was commissioned by Marie Curie to develop national guidelines on missing data following her PhD which are now available.

Her current work focuses on research methods for addressing inequalities at the end of life.
