Miss Laura Hermann

BSc (Hons), MSc

NIHR Pre-doctoral Fellow

Role at Hull York Medical School

I am a pre-doctoral fellow working within the Institute for Clinical and Applied Health Research. I was awarded an NIHR methodology fellowship in 2021 to develop specialist skills in mixed methods research.

Supervised by Dr Maureen Twiddy and Professor Thomas Phillips, I am embedded in a number of studies in the department, developing my knowledge of qualitative and quantitative methods and analysis. This includes, Big Data techniques, interview/focus group study development, clinical trials, and statistical analysis.

I have a focus upon trial methodology, in particular using Studies Within A Trial (SWATs) to optimise recruitment to clinical trials, an interest stemming from my previous role as a research assistant.
