Simon trained in medicine at the University of Edinburgh in 1991 and following that worked overseas in India and Australia before returning to Yorkshire to train in Anaesthesia.
He became a full time NHS consultant at York Hospitals in 2010 and joined HYMS in 2022 as a Reader in Perioperative Medicine and remains and Honorary Consultant at York Teaching Hospitals.
Simon in a member of the Centre for Health and Population Sciences and has broad research interests around perioperative medicine. Specific interests include machine learning in perioperative medicine, cardiopulmonary exercise testing, use of technology in anaesthesia, and perioperative risk assessment.
