As a Lecturer in Translational Immunology at Centre for Biomedicine, my role focuses on investigating immunological mechanisms, macrophage-mediated inflammation, and immunometabolism. My work aims to delineate the cellular and molecular pathways driving inflammatory responses in metabolic tissues, with the ultimate goal of identifying novel therapeutic targets for inflammation-driven metabolic and cardiovascular conditions.
I obtained my BSc (Hons) in Applied Biology with Biotechnology from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), an MPhil from the Department of Medicine at University of Hong Kong, and a PhD from the Department of Health Technology and Informatics at PolyU. After my doctoral studies, I continued as a Research Assistant Professor in the same department from 2021 to 2026. In 2026, I joined the Centre for Biomedicine as a Lecturer in Translational Immunology.
My research focuses on adipose tissue inflammation and immunometabolism in obesity and ageing-related cardiometabolic complications. My work aims to elucidate how immune cells, especially macrophages sense metabolic insults and the cellular mechanisms that drive chronic adipose tissue inflammation, as well as adipocyte-immune cell crosstalk that contributes to adipose tissue dysfunction and systemic metabolic decline in obesity and ageing. The goal is to ultimately uncover targets for the prevention and treatment of obesity and ageing-related cardiometabolic complications.
I welcome enquiries from prospective self-funded PhD students and Master's by Research candidates interesting in adipose tissue inflammation, adipocyte-immune cell crosstalk and immunometabolism.
