Build a comprehensive understanding of whole-body human anatomy through this Level 7 short course, designed to emphasise both the organisation of anatomical structures and the fundamental patterns that govern human anatomy.
Using an integrative approach that links structure to function, this course incorporates cutting-edge technology and research-driven methods to provide a broad foundation in human anatomy and opportunities to develop your dissection skills, regardless of your background in anatomy.
This short course provides a comprehensive overview of whole-body human anatomy, focusing on the organisation of structures and their functional relationships. It is delivered through flipped lectures, practical sessions, and seminars, supported by self-directed learning.
Major body systems are covered, alongside foundational anatomical concepts and an introduction to dissection, with learning applied through prosections, models, and critical discussion of relevant health technologies.
You will receive 20 Level 7 credits on completing this short course, including passing the assessments.
This short course is relevant to a wide range of individuals interested in developing their knowledge of whole-body anatomy in the context of health technologies, functional anatomy, and clinical anatomy. Healthcare professionals, clinicians in training, anatomy educators, demonstrators, allied health professionals, researchers and others seeking to enhance their applied knowledge of human anatomy.
It may also be suitable for individuals wishing to refresh or deepen their understanding of clinical anatomy for professional practice, teaching, further study or specialist development.
Eligible applicants may take this course as a standalone CPD option or as part of the PGCert/PGDip/MSc in Clinical Anatomy and Education or PGCert/PGDip/MSc in Clinical Anatomy.

This module is delivered through a series of lectures, practical sessions and seminars.
Lectures will introduce participants to the anatomy of the major systems of the body. Practical sessions will then enable students to undertake practical investigation of the relevant anatomy through the use of anatomical models, prosected human donor material, and finally a group dissection project.
The seminar series runs alongside the practical sessions and is designed to enhance and extend learning. Seminar topics are linked to health technologies used to research, model and apply the anatomy covered in the lecture and practical sessions.
These components are supported by structured and self-directed learning.
Direct interaction with tutors and seminar facilitators provides the opportunity to tailor learning to your own professional, academic or specialist interests.
Teaching is supported by facilitators from a range of anatomically relevant clinical and non-clinical disciplines, helping participants recognise the relevance and transferability of anatomical knowledge, skills and principles.
Time commitment
As a 20 credit level 7 module, the total time commitment, including contact time and self-directed learning, is 200 hours. Across the module, this is approximately 16 hours per week, including timetabled sessions.
