Hull York Medical School has delivered an outstanding performance in the National Student Survey (NSS) 2026, achieving high levels of student satisfaction across all areas of the student experience. The results reflect the School's commitment to delivering exceptional medical education and to providing an innovative, supportive, and inclusive learning environment that empowers students to reach their full potential.

Each year, nearly half a million students from institutions across the UK are invited to take part in the NSS. They are asked as part of the survey to provide honest feedback about what it has been like to study on their course at their chosen university or college – reflecting on everything from teaching to academic support and wellbeing services.

Engagement with the survey was particularly high this year, with 73% of final year students responding. Building on the success of last year’s results, Hull York Medical School has seen continued positive feedback – performing ahead of the sector across all seven themes of the survey. The School received particularly positive feedback across Assessment and Feedback, and Mental Wellbeing where they ranked second amongst UK medical schools, and Teaching on my Course where they ranked third.

Professor Matthew Morgan, Dean of Hull York Medical School, said: ‘I am delighted that we have received such positive feedback in this year’s NSS. Our students are at the heart of everything we do, and it is great to see the collective commitment and effort of colleagues across the School and our partners reflected in the results’.

The National Student Survey provides the School with valuable information which, together with ongoing feedback from students, allows them to continually improve the student experience. The results also help prospective students make informed choices about where to study.

For future medicine students considering applying for 2027 entry, the latest results are a clear indication of the quality of the experience offered by Hull York Medical School and their commitment to students.

As the joint medical school of the universities of Hull and York, Hull York Medical School is one of the UKs leading medical schools. It offers exceptional medical education centred around problem-based learning, early clinical experience across a range of healthcare settings and clinical and communication skills training – all of which prepare its students to become confident, compassionate, exceptional doctors. As a result, the Medical School has been ranked 3rd in the UK for Medicine as part of the Guardian Good University Guide 2026, and within the top 10 of UK medical Schools in the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2026.
