Funding

Funded research projects

We advertise all funded postgraduate research opportunities on our website and PhD opportunities on the FindaPhD website.

If you are interested in any of our funded projects, please contact the named supervisor in the advertised project.

Funding

Self-funded projects

We welcome enquiries from individuals interested in undertaking a self-funded research degree.

You might already have a specific supervisor or project in mind, or maybe you're thinking more about an area of study rather than a specific project. Whichever route you're considering, here are some starting points:

  • Find a supervisor: search our research centres and groups to find a supervisor who works in your field. Contact your potential supervisor(s) to discuss the research area you’re interested in
  • Contact your potential supervisor: if you’re generating your own research project, seek guidance on its suitability and find out about funding opportunities.

Before applying please ensure you have contacted a potential supervisor and discussed your project with them. With their agreement please name them on your application so that it is clear these discussions have taken place.

Please contact us if you require support in finding a potential supervisor or project: postgraduate@hyms.ac.uk
