Receiving such a lovely award is a tremendous honour and a fantastic conclusion to what has been a truly exceptional year at Hull York Medical School. I want to express my deepest gratitude to my dedicated teachers, mentors, supervisors, family, and friends; your support has been the foundation of my successes, and I am thankful for all the opportunities afforded to me here at Hull York Medical School.

As I enter my fourth year of medicine, the invaluable skills, connections, and knowledge I have gained from my intercalated year have set me on a brilliant trajectory for my future.

I am very surprised and proud to have won this award! I want to thank my colleagues on the MSc programme (especially Tom!) who were all so lovely, and I miss you guys! I also want to thank the senior lecturers, who were all so amazing and supportive, and wonderful educators. I hope to be half as good as all of you when my turn comes to teach.

The course has been such a wonderful experience. To anyone thinking of intercalating at Hull York Medical School - do it! You won't regret it.

I am incredibly grateful for this award and it is a meaningful affirmation of the hard work I put into my studies and my research project. This award has further inspired and motivated me to pursue a career in drug development and clinical trials.

I would like to especially thank my supervisor, Laura Sadofsky, and my boyfriend Rilkean for all of their support and encouragement over the past year. I'm looking forward to what lies ahead!

Best Performance in MSc in Physician Associate Studies – Year 2 – Independent Study Module (Quality Improvement Project)

Olivia Butcher

My main goal in joining healthcare has always been to make a positive difference to patients, and this project allowed me to do exactly that. I put a lot of time and effort into it because I have a strong interest in quality improvement and wanted to make a real impact on patient care. I'm proud that my work has helped reduce the number of patients at risk of acute asthma exacerbations.

This recognition shows that my dedication has paid off, and I couldn't have achieved it without the support of the practice staff and my module lead, to whom I'm very grateful.

I feel so proud to win this award. Studying whilst juggling all of life's other demands was challenging, but without a doubt, the remote learning aspect made it possible, plus the support of course tutors, which was invaluable. The course content really gripped my interest and fuelled my enthusiasm, and it has been a real eye opener to delve into the depths of what medical education entails, and carry this new knowledge forward into my professional work.

I was genuinely surprised and honoured to receive the award for the PG Certificate in Health Professions Education. I didn't even know the award existed, which made it all the more special!

This experience has reminded me that, even later in my career, I can still learn new things, adapt my study habits, juggle with my other commitments, and overcome technical challenges.

I am so thankful for the support and camaraderie of my fellow students in our WhatsApp group, my family - especially when essay deadlines were looming - and of course the tutors! Overall, it has strengthened my role as an educator and my passion for health professions education.
