The Dr Sanders Prize for Best Performance in Phase III Clinical Examinations

Awarded to the student who is determined by the Board of Examiners to have achieved the highest number of A and B grades awarded by examiners in the final clinical practice exam.

This prize has been generously donated in memory of Dr Michael Samuel Sanders, a GP who spent most of his career in Hull.

The Alderson Medal

Awarded to the best performing student in clinical assessments in Phases II and III. This medal is generously donated by Hull University Teaching Hospitals Trust.

Best Performance Written Papers in Phase III

Awarded to the student who achieved the highest score in the final written paper.

I'm really excited and honoured to have received these awards. I'm grateful to my tutors, lecturers, friends and family for their guidance, support and encouragement, both during my time at medical school and now as I begin Foundation training. I've thoroughly enjoyed my time at Hull York Medical School, and I am thankful for the friends I have made and the experiences that have shaped me both personally and professionally.

This is such a lovely way to end medical school. I have never won an academic prize before, so I am proud of the progress I've made from first year to now this. Hull York Medical School really allowed me to come into my own, and I miss medical school already!

Founding Dean’s Award

Awarded to the student with the best overall academic performance over the five years of the MB BS Programme. This is assessed as the student with the greatest number of excellent grades achieved in the duration of the course.

This award was established by our founding Dean, Professor Bill Gillespie, upon his retirement.
